My words and my pictures. All I have

Tilted sunset

I have a strange feeling today. It’s not something that I can identify, but it’s there. Maybe something is about to happen? If that’s the case, I hope it’s something good. Or maybe it’s just that the weather is finally getting colder, lots of trees are already on their way to being leafless, and summer colors are definitely gone from the scene.

On another note, I’m very happy today. Last weekend I caught a TV program about gardening, just when they were explaining how to plant tulips – tulips are my favorite flowers, even though I’ve only seen them in pictures. It’s not a commonly grown plant where I live, but at least now I know that I can grow them myself. So today I headed out to the nursery, and came home with two tulip bulbs, and, to my delight, two crocus bulbs! If all goes well, next spring I should see these flowers in person for the first time in my life. There’s such a sense of magic to that thought…

In the meantime, and since the cold weather has arrived, I’ve taken up my crochet work again, and the sweater I left unfinished last year is finally on its way to becoming a sweater. I love crocheting and knitting in the winter, it’s so relaxing. I don’t know how I’ll balance everything I’m doing, but somehow I will.

These shots are from Saturday. I must warn you, I got –quite a lot– carried away with tilted horizons. I don’t know why, I don’t like how they work anywhere else, but at this beach, tilting the camera can create some wonderful shots. Hope you like them!

  1. Those shots are truly magical!

  2. You did it again!:) I love the fifth image!

  3. Wow, those are beautiful!

  4. Love the tilted photos! I love looking at the ordinary and making it unique. You’ve certainly done that with the tilted photos.

It’s hard to image someone talking about the trees losing their leaves when ours are just getting their leaves and the crocus are blooming here and the tulips not far behind.

    • Thanks! I don’t see anything ordinary in sunsets anymore, so maybe that’s why they look extraordinary when I shoot them.
I know, I just had to go get the tulip and crocus bulbs because I keep seeing these flowers in everyone’s blog while here I see leafless trees. But it’s the beauty of globalization – we have both seasons at the same time!

  5. Love the tilted horizon – especially the 3rd and 5th shots. You’re making me wish I lived near the ocean!

  6. I LOVE your sunset and horizon photos, especially the diagonal ones. Great work!

  7. Beautiful photographs as always! I especially love the 4th photograph with the wide landscape and tilted horizon:D My family heritage is dutch and so I have always been around tulips in the garden hee hee. I wish you luck as you grow yours! They are quite beautiful and hardy flowers 😀 Have a lovely day! and enjoy the cooler weather 🙂

    • Thanks, Alli! I’m missing your creatures, hope you have time to create some more soon!
Oh, how I wish I could visit one of those places where rows and rows of tulips smile under the sun. It’s one of my goals in life.
I hope the tulips I’m planting will grow healthy and give pretty flowers in the spring for me to enjoy and shoot :).

  8. The tilted shots are amazing, it definitely works! I know how you feel about not being able to fit everything in. I’m struggling a lot at the moment between work, photography, the blog, having a social life, and doing all the other stuff like eating, sleeping etc…

    • Thanks, Kieran! Now don’t complain if I keep taking tilted shots every time I go there :).
Life is about to get even more complicated here, but I guess after five years of living like this I’ve finally learnt not to worry too much, and trust that I’ll always get everything done. Good luck keeping up with all the stuff in yours!

  9. I love the depth of color in these shots…and you can’t beat a great sunset (or 20, or 1000…you get the picture).

Wish we were heading into winter here…it will be blisteringly hot for nearly 6 months. I always expect to melt one of these summers 🙂

    Enjoying your photos…!

    • Thanks! It makes me happy to know that people enjoy my art 🙂 And I agree with you, there’s nothing like a sunset.
I’m sorry for you. Summer is my least favorite season precisely because of the heat. Luckily it only lasts two or three months here, I don’t know what I would do if it lasted six. Probably run away!
      Thanks for dropping by!

  10. The color is really beautiful. I like all of them.
