My words and my pictures. All I have

About the creatrix

I’ve never known, though I thought I did.
I need to breathe and I want to feel alive.
I see through the eyes of my camera and breathe through the ink of my pen.
I still don’t know, but maybe I’m getting there…

  1. Hi,

    i enjoyed reading your blog.

it is a beautiful design, i really like the layout.

i see you are in Argentina. i have been reading a lot about Argentina recently, in particular Patagonia . it is on my list of places to visit.

    All the best from Canada

  2. Thanks! This blog is such a huge part of my soul by now, I’m beyond grateful every time someone likes it.
Argentina is truly a beautiful country. I haven’t been many places, but I did go south, to Bariloche, Bolson, Lago Puelo. To this day I regret not getting my point-and-shoot one year earlier, because I used an old camera on that trip and most of the shots were overexposed. But I’m returning there at some point, armed with a DSLR. Patagonia, beware. Lol. Hope you can visit someday, the beauty there seeps into your soul.

  3. I love your blog ;O) Lot of passion in it.. I will follow you :O)

    • Thank you! I pour my soul in the pictures I take and the words I write, and I’m so glad you can feel that passion, it must mean I’m doing something right.

      • Hello again!
Through your words and images we really are able to feel your passion. In both you’re moving beyond the two dimensional – in your photographs I can feel serenity, warmth and a host of other feelings. Your poetry does the same – and that’s a rare talent. Please keep up the good work!
        Dave

      • Thanks a million. Your words have made my day. It’s great to know that my art communicates all the passion and emotion I put into it. To me, art is all about feelings, about loving what I’m doing and doing what I love. I study and work hard, but the most important part of it all is feeling what I’m creating.
Thanks for coming back and taking the time to encourage me this way. It’s appreciated. And don’t worry, there’s no force in the universe than can stop me now that I’ve found what I love to do :).

  4. Yes i am excited about a visit to Patagonia. last year i went north from here to the Yukon, Alaska and the arctic circle and now i would like to go south and see the landscape there. the landscapes are very similar from what i have seen of Patagonia on the TV . so i will enjoy it very much.

  5. Such a lovely place… will definitely pop back to please my senses.
We both follow Michelle, and hopefully both pray for her strenth.

Cheers from half way across the world.

    • Thanks! I believe photography is inherently related to the senses, so I’m glad my pictures bring pleasure to others.
I’ll send a prayer for Michelle every morning and every night until she posts again and tells us that she’s back to writing her thought-provoking poems and sharing those amazing videos she finds online.

  6. Hello! your blog made me laugh. you’re addicted to taking pictures and posting them all. 🙂 and thanks for liking my blog entry yesterday.
    Good Day!

    • I’d say it’s more than an addiction, it’s a lifestyle. And I don’t even post a quarter of the pictures I take, if I did, I’d flood WordPress, LOL.
      Thanks for dropping by!

  7. Hi!

I saw that you liked my tulip photos – thanks! 🙂
I thought that I could stop by at your blog shortly – and wasn’t disappointed: Your photos are brilliant! I really enjoyed them.

    Greetings from Switzerland,
    Stella

    • Thank you! Your words are deeply moving. I’m SO happy that you liked my pictures; I put a lot of work and hope in them.
Your tulips shots were lovely, and I’ve been looking through your blog and found some other really great shots.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  8. What a beautiful site! Love your words and images – you have a real talent!

    Dave

  9. Nicely done. One of your poems reminds me of this pearl-of-a-thought:

Success is not defined by the number of titles you’ve acquired, but by the number of obstacles you have overcome.

    Booker T. Washington

Also, thank you for “liking” my blog. As you can tell, I haven’t been on for very long.

    • I agree with that. Today’s society values people based on the number of degrees they have accumulated, and they forget to value people on their human level. That’s why I try to fulfill my responsibilities inside the system without selling myself or my beliefs. I get disappointed a lot, but I also get inspired a lot, and in the end it’s a matter of persistence and trying to see the glass half full.
I really liked your snow shots. And thanks for stopping by 🙂

  10. Hello,

I enjoyed your blog and especially your thoughtful descriptions of the subjects of your photos, which adds so much to the gorgeous images. The tomato entry made me smile!

I traveled to BA once (in 1995) and fell in love with Argentina. I was out in the countryside as well and found the people enchanting and the city vibrant and exciting. I hope to return some day.

Thank you for liking my blog entry yesterday. Best of luck with your studies and your photography.

    A fan from Virginia

    • Thanks! When I’m comfortable I can be very talkative, and that’s where the bits of description and personal stuff that accompany my pictures come from.
Having this blog has been a fantastic experience and a great exercise in expression so far, thanks to my lovely readers who have transformed this space into one of beauty and comfort.
Thank you for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment. It means a lot to me :).

  11. Beautiful blog. Wonderful photographs. Meaningful words. Keep up the good work! http://leicaman.wordpress.com/

  12. Very nice blog.

Inspiring to read. Reminds me of my early days in photography. And I like that.

Thank you so much for sharing.

  13. Thanks for visiting my blog today. Your photos are BEAUTIFUL!

  14. Exquisite photographs on your site! Thank you for visiting my blog.

  15. I love everything I have seen so far! The words of poetry, the photographs, the creations, all so beautiful. From one artist to another, you are multi-talented.

    • From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Everything in this blog is a piece of my soul, and your words mean a lot to me. I do everything -writing, photography, post-processing- with passion and dedication, and it’s encouraging to know that it shows.
      Thanks for dropping by!

  16. Just awesome..nothing more to say!

  17. Thank you for “liking” the pic I posted on my blog, that I found on Becca Givens Blog! I just started reading some of your blog and I enthralled. Love the layout and MOOD. I will follow and visit again. Thanks for making contact.

    The Lioness

    • Thanks for the sweet words about my blog. It makes me so happy when people find my work interesting and want to see more of it. It’s great to have such feedback on something that I love so much :).
Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment!

  18. Thanks for stopping by my blog and hitting the “like” button. Your photographs are beautiful.
    Ruth

  19. Thank you, Ruth! Your photos are beautiful, too. And thanks for stopping by!

  20. Hi I love your photography & your poetry, beautiful on both counts!! I really love the vibe of your photography what camera did you use? Did you use film?

    All the best, Flaxton x

    • Thanks! Hopefully someday soon I’ll have a Nikon D90; in the meantime, I’m using my Nikon L20 point-and-shoot, and saving every cent I can. But while using my L20 I’ve learnt that photography is mostly about persistence and practice, even if you don’t have a great camera.
Thanks for dropping by and for your kind words on my work :).

  21. Hello. Nice blog you’ve got here. I was going through some of your photos. I must say, there’re very eye-catching and colorful. Good work.

  22. Love the photographs in your blog!

  23. Thanks for stopping by my photography blog http:/mineeyeshaveseen.wordpress.com

I love all of your photos and poems that I had time to read this evening. Great work! Jeanne

  24. Wow, stunning photographs and beautiful poems… I am inspired. 🙂 Thank you!

  25. This is my first visit here and I have been going over your older entries. Very nice. I wish I could write as well and your photos are wonderful.

  26. Just dropped by to say thanks for liking my article, Raw Magic. After having a look around your blog I have a better idea how to write into my articles. I am only new to blogging and so far I have been a bit hit and miss but your out pouring from the heart is really wonderful to read. You are an inspiration. Thank you.

    • Thanks! This blog started out as an attempt to force myself to write more poetry, and it ended up evolving into a place where I share my passion for photography and ramble about my every day life.
I’ve been writing all my life, so it comes naturally to just say a lot of things along with the pictures I post. Plus, you know, it’s cathartic to have a place where you can share your frustrations and your joys every day.
Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for the nice comment :).

      • Thank you for dropping by my photo blog. I’m still pretty “green” in figuring out the in’s/out’s of maintaining a blog.

Though already 5 months old, this is growing into a wonderful labor of love. Never liked FB and since discovering blogging I can exchange feedback with like minded souls in a better environment.

I’ve subscribed to your blog and look forward to seeing more of what you will be sharing. Anything new you are working on?

        with regards.. 🙂 ~A~

  27. I’ve never cared much for Facebook, either, and since I found out you give the owners legal rights over anything you post there, I gave it up altogether.
Blogging has been great so far – I love sharing my photography and my poetry, being able to talk to people who enjoy them, and of course visiting other blogs and seeing what others are creating.
Thanks for subscribing to my blog; I hope you enjoy my posts. I’m always working on something new, although I don’t always have the time to post it. I’m currently working on today’s post, and I’m always trying to organize my archives. I’m also trying to write more poetry, too. It will all get posted eventually, I hope you like it!

  28. Hi There.

you have some really cool stuff! patagonia! ive heard of that place! want to go someday…

Thanks for liking my post! Ill subscribe to your blog!

  29. Great blog and beautiful art. Thanks!

  30. Hi, thanks for visiting my humble blog and liking my post. I’m getting back to DSLR photography after years of neglect. Your pictures are a wonderful inspiration to me. Keep on shooting! 🙂

    • Thanks for your kind words! Photography is one of the things that make my life meaningful, so I’ll keep shooting as long as I breathe. I hope your enjoy your journey of rediscovery!

  31. You have some really great photography and a great blog.

  32. Thanks for “liking” one of my entries. Much appreciated.

  33. Hi, Thanks for stopping by my blog today and liking my latest post. Your love of photography shines through in your photos and in your words. Enjoy your journey of discovery!

  34. Great blog – I am already learning from you (first lesson – I must buy Photoshop…). Thank you creatrix.

    • Thanks! You can download a trial version from their site, and see if you like it before you buy it. Other photographers prefer different software, but I know I can do everything I want with PS. It’s up to everyone’s personal taste :).
      Glad you like my blog!

  35. I’m glad you enjoyed my photo of the fuzzy baby sunflower leaves at

    http://portraitsofwildflowers.wordpress.com/2011/06/06/sunflowers-new-leaves/

I like the fact that you identify yourself as a creatrix. I used to teach precalculus, and the technical term directrix always led me to explain to my students about Latin feminine nouns like aviatrix, executrix, and actrix (which has become French actrice and English actress).

I’m glad to encounter another photographer.

    • I studied Latin at college (I study Literature), and I was fascinated by the suffix “trix”; I liked the way it sounded and the fact that women had their own nouns. And when I asked myself how I would define myself, that was the word that summed up the best about me. I create, and that keeps me alive.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  36. Let’s hear it for Latin, and for the quadruple alliteration of SunSetSeaSoul!

  37. Hiya, I’ve visited your blog a few times before, I found you via comments on other blogs I read.
I just had to subscribe this time to find out how Friday went.
    Hope it went well 😀

  38. Nice work on the blog and great photography.

  39. Thanks for liking my blog today…. I spent a bit of time looking through your poetry and pictures too very expressive and personable…

  40. Love your site! Keep it up…

  41. “I see through the eyes of my camera and breathe through the ink of my pen.”??? Wow, I’m right in there too. No time now to say more, but thanks for liking my photo and doubtless we’ll be in further contact. See my tweets, top right of my blog’s front page. I’m looking for people writing like that. I’m subscribing to your blog. FATman

  42. I lingered here this morning! Your style is lovely and refreshing. Beautiful photos of nature always draw me in. I’ll visit again soon!

  43. Thanks for the like on my post. You have lovely photos here.

    Cheers! 🙂

  44. I enjoy your blog, life attitude, and photography immensely. Your authenticity is refreshing.

I hope your mom is healing and pain-free—she(and you) are in my thoughts and prayers.

Do you have a website for your photos? You’re incredibly talented!

I wanted to recommend this novel I’m reviewing on my blog: The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. It’s an amazing story I think you’ll love it!

    Cheers ~ Laura

    • Thanks for your kind comment, Laura. My mother is doing much better now, so thanks for the good wishes too.
I don’t have a website, just the blog. Maybe one day I’ll consider a website, when I get a DSLR and have some free time in my hands, for now the blog is enough (and a handful).
Thanks for the book recommendation, I was actually looking for something to read since I’ve almost finished the book I was reading.
I’m really glad you enjoyed by blog and my work. Thanks for visiting!

  45. Thanks for taking the time to click the “like” button on my blog post earlier today; I greatly appreciate it.

I’ve taken some time to poke around your blog and it’s my distinct impression that you put your heart and sole into all your work. That surely is a recipe for success.

    Best Regards,

    Kerry Mark Leibowitz

  53. Loving your blog, the seascapes and sunsets I have found beautiful.

  54. I just started my blog yesterday, can you tell me where do I go on WordPress to change the words after my screen name in the top left. Where you have “My words and my pictures. All I Have”

    Thanks for your help.

  55. Thanks for your “like” for my photos, I figured out how to change the motto.

    P.S. I like your photos!

  60. Very nice blog! Why is it so many photographers are writers (and so many writers are photographers)? You’ve done a great job with both!

  61. Thanks so much for the gumballcrayola like! Your blog is beautiful and I will be back to visit often

  62. Lovely sunsets! I enjoy your work very much. Thank you for visiting my blog as well.

  64. You have an amazing blog! Thank you for sharing and stopping to like a post of mine. I am still a little reluctant to share as freely as you have, but I hope I will be able to have the courage in the future. You are a wonderfully beautiful person 🙂

    • Thank you! I was reluctant to share when I first started this blog, but then I realized if all I did with my photos was keep them in my hard drive, there wasn’t much point in taking them. I believe beauty is to be shared, so we can all enjoy it. Besides, if I share my work I get awesome comments like yours :). Thanks for stopping by!

  65. Thankyou so much for your lovely comment on my blog! I had a look at some of your images and you have many amazing photographs – I am extremely flattered!

  66. Thank you for liking my blog. Your photographs are beautiful. Looking at other people’s beautiful photographs gives me inspiration. I look forward to seeing more of your blogs.

  68. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Yours is just awesome. 🙂

  69. Nice, blog, love what you have done with the place. Thanx for the like on mine. I too am working at learning Lightroom, and I am for sure a turtle in that race. I have been using Scott Kelby’s Lightroom 3 book and it has been a big help for learning the system and finding shortcuts………enjoy life, God Spede on your journey….jim

    • Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed my blog :). I’ve been watching lots of free online tutorials, and I also downloaded some presets for LR, and so far I’m doing ok. Good luck and happy learning!

  70. Your pictures are AMAZING!!! Can’t wait to see more.

    All the very best
    Paul

  71. Thanks for visiting my “punny” photoblog and leaving a “like.” –John

  72. very nice work… have to start taking more photos myself.

  73. Hi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. You’ll love your macro lens when you get it – your droplet photos are already fantastic. I can imagine when you get a macro. I have the Tamron 90mm on my Nikon camera. Much cheaper than the Nikon equivalent and takes great portaits too.

  74. I just want to let you know that you’ve been nominated for the versatile-blogger-award. Check out the rules and all on my blog.
    Thanks.

  75. Weird . . . I could have sworn I had posted here before. Probably got flagged as spam for including a link to Lightroom related stuff.

No matter. Thanks for checking out my blog. I like what you are doing with yours (although poetry is not really my thing).

I always like to look at the inspiration and efforts of others as a way to fuel my own, and I’ll be stopping by to check how you are doing. Perhaps once I retire I’ll subscribe to all these windows into peoples minds and souls.

    • You did! You just comment on the post Pretty water drops, not this one.
I’m subscribed to way too many blogs, and just looking at all the beautiful photos reminds me why I love photography and inspires me to grab my camera and take some shots myself. What we can share through the internet is amazing.
Thanks for stopping by again, and come back any time you want :).

  76. I find your photos so moving! Thank you for sharing.

  77. Wow what a gorgeous blog! The pictures attract me to scroll on and on. The words lead on to the next post and then the next. Totally with you on the SOPA and PIPA issues. I think people the world over are. We have a similar scenario happening in India. 😦

    • I love the way you described my blog, thank you :).
We won the fight against SOPA and PIPA, and I’d like to think this will be a milestone that will change the way the world views the internet and people’s freedom to use it however they want. Mostly, I think this should help us realize our strength – people from all over the world came together and our voices weren’t ignored. If we did this, who knows what else we can do from now on?

  78. Thank you for calling in at my blog and liking my post.
I hope to be able to deliever more posts that you like!

  79. What a lovely blog you have; words, photographs, all of it nice.

    Best wishes
    Martyn

    • Thank you for your kind words, Donna! I remember what it was like when I was new to WordPress. I just celebrated my blog’s first birthday, so have fun and enjoy blogging, soon you’ll be an expert :).

  82. Thank you for your interest in my recent post, ‘Photographing arctic light’ – and congratulations on your blog’s very first birthday!
    Susie 🙂

    • You took the time to showcase an impressive set of photos by a talented artist, of course I had to have a look!
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you found something that you liked here :).

  84. Hi,

We’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award too (see http://windagainstcurrent.com/2012/03/21/versatile-blogger-award-take-two/)… but we see you’ve already got it from another source! 🙂

No obligation to follow the silly rules—do with it what you will!

    • It doesn’t matter, Vladimir! I may not repost the award, but I’m planning a post to thank everyone who’s given me one and link back to their blogs. Awards are all about sharing the blogs we love so other people can visit them, and about letting other bloggers know their work is appreciated :). So thank you!!

  85. Hi, I’ve nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award. Love your blog! Congrats. http://bythelight1973.com/2012/10/05/a-nice-start-to-my-weekend/

  87. Hi there,
Just beautiful pictures, really! It seems like you have a thing for sunsets and flowers! 🙂
I was wondering which camera and lens/lenses you are using?

    All the best
    /Anton

    • Thank you! I do love sunsets, sunrises and flowers, and capturing Nature’s beauty with my camera is one of my favorite things :). I have a Nikon D90 with the kit lens, a 18-105 mm. Hopefully someday I’ll finally save up enough to buy one or two more lenses, but the one I have works just fine. Thanks for stopping by!

  88. Hello, I enjoy your entire blog very much, I will be soon back to see after more magic. I am not quite sure how to do the things right at this blog, as I have blog.spot myself, a little simpler system. Have a beautiful day!
