My words and my pictures. All I have

Little baubles of light

It feels good to be back. I’ve been away for two months, running around, working on my dissertation, and sorting out some personal stuff. I had to take a vacation from blogging because it was starting to feel like a chore instead of something that I enjoyed.

I went through two hard drives in the meantime, one broke down from old age and use, and the one I replaced it with was apparently faulty and broke down after a couple of weeks. Luckily the losses were minor, but the first time around the people that salvaged all my info failed to restore a couple folders, among which were my most recently edited photos (which I hadn’t backed up). I thought these were gone for good, until my second hard drive died and they restored the original back up fully, including these. Imagine my happiness :).

So here we are, my photos and me. I have lots of archived photos from last summer that I want to edit, so I think I’ll be back again soon. Hope you enjoy these :).

Celebratory sunset

I have very good news to share with you. First, Artismysanity turned two about a month ago (I forgot to mention it back then, but I remembered now, so Happy Birthday!). Like I did last year, I want to thank everyone that has stopped by, liked or commented on one of my posts and followed this blog – without you, this blog would make no sense. Here’s to another year of enjoying photography and sharing it with you all!

Second, my graduation is in a couple of weeks. My last final was almost a year ago, but the paperwork took forever, so I’m only getting my degree now. I hate paperwork. But I love that this moment has finally arrived, because it gives me a wonderful sense of closure. It’s over, I’m done. Not completely, since I’m still working to get what we here call Licenciatura, but I’m officially a teacher, I get to hang that piece of paper on the wall and pat myself on the back. And I get to buy new clothes for the ceremony, which is always nice :).

These are a few more shots from last summer. It was one of the most peaceful and beautiful days I have ever spent at the local beach, and I think it’s a great way to celebrate, since whenever I needed to escape from the madness of classes and exams, this is where I went. Enjoy!

Dewdrops

These are some shots of the almond tree that I’ve been meaning to post for a while. I was planning to post some shots from my vacation, but instead I went on vacation again. Just for the weekend, but I got some more shots of the sunrise and sunset at the beach. I’m seriously considering moving there, the ocean is just too beautiful, and starting the day by watching the sunrise and listening to the waves crashing on the beach is one of the best things in the universe. Who would have thought I would end up loving being up to watch the sunrise. Hope you like these!

Liquid gold

Hi there, everyone! How did your 2013 start? Mine started with overcast skies, howling winds, lightening, thunder, and rain. 2012 went out with a bang, quite literally, thwarting my plan to shoot the last sunset of 2012 and the first sunrise of 2013. I got the next best thing, though, the last visible sunset and the first visible sunrise, and all the sunsets and sunrises I shot while I was on vacation were gorgeous, so I’m not complaining about a little bit of (seriously) bad weather.

These shots aren’t from my vacation, though, because I haven’t had time to edit those. They’re from last February, a fantastic stormy sunset shot at the local beach. Hope you like them!

Taking stock

Happy Holidays, everyone! I love that it’s time to make Christmas cards and plan vacations again. I know that I did a lot of things this year, but December still catches me wondering where the heck 2012 went. How come 2013 is almost here??

Anywho, since it’s that time of the year again, I decided to make my two lists, 2012 Achievements an 2013 Goals, and while I was at it I also decided to make a slideshow with my favorite shots from this year. My, what a year it’s been! I’m glad to read my 2012 Goals from last year and realize I met most of them :).

I’m going on vacation in a few days (provided we can get the car fixed on time, cross your fingers for me!), and I’m going to spend New Year’s Eve by the Atlantic Ocean, because I couldn’t have it any other way. I decided to start my year by shooting the departing year’s last sunset and the coming year’s first sunrise, on my favorite beach in the world, by my beloved ocean. Expect a lot of photos when I get back :). Wish you all a magnificent 2013!Xmas tree2The best of 2012
