My words and my pictures. All I have

Bright skies

It’s the second consecutive week we’ve been covered in ash. Or maybe the third. There’s a gap somewhere in my timeline that involved stressful planning of a class and my sister giving birth to my niece. The time continuum seems to be going back to normalcy this week, and I’m counting the days till the holidays arrive.

I was so out of touch with everything last week that I missed the fact that the ash has caused some severe damage south of Buenos Aires. I caught a glimpse of the news today and it looked pretty bad. Nature’s feisty lately, and I can’t help but wonder if it’s our fault or if it’s just the way things are. I’d like to think it’s the latter.

I wish I had time to take some shots. I wish there was sunlight so I could take some shots; I keep gazing longingly at the pictures from the last sunset I shot. But since everything seems to be conspiring against my time with the camera, I’ve decided to take it easy and focus on passing all my exams. Three weeks seem like a lot of time now, but with everything that’s coming up I know in no time I’ll be off the hook, free to get my life back. And I’m six months closer to my DSLR! Life just keeps getting better.

  1. I love the shot of the rocks! The textures, lighting, and ‘stability’ is very cool. Have you taken any pictures even with the ash present?

    • I was mesmerized by the glitter of the sun on the rock, too. I almost fell into the sea trying to take this picture :). I managed to take a couple of shots of my flowers covered in ash, which I’ve just posted.

  2. Beautiful! My favourite is the rocks and water reflecting the sunset. Just beautiful!!

  3. muy bueno pictures! Can almost feel the warm glow of the setting sun!

    • Gracias, Astra! It was actually quite a cold day, I remember trying to warm up my hands for half an hour after I got back home. Shooting by the sea in the winter can be quite unpleasant; no matter how much you love photography you can’t avoid freezing!

  4. The one with the rocks is very nice 🙂

  5. The photos speaks for themselves..It was like a glowing gold that shines all through out and it was evident on all of your shots..

take it easy, youll have more time with your cam..
    nice one..

  6. Beautiful as always, you’ve got a skill for capturing sunsets! I love how smooth and warm the sky looks. And I agree with the others, the shot of the rocks is very nice as well, especially with the light just touching the edge of the waves.

    • Thanks, Kieran! I’ve been in love with sunsets all my life, and I’m really happy to know I take good pictures of them :). I’m in love with autumn’s sunsets, the light is amazing!

  7. What fabulous golden light. Just magical!

  8. These are so beautiful, calming and captivating. I love your sunset photographs. I hope the ash clears soon for you. I would hate it. To see the sun and blue sky is magical to me. Good luck in your exams!! I think I’ve said it before, but just incase!! 🙂

    • I’m glad you enjoyed them, Sam!
The ash has cleared away these past few days, but I haven’t had the time to go shooting since I’ve been studying for the last partials I have to get through before the holidays finally arrive. Thanks for the good luck, it’s much appreciated! 🙂
