My words and my pictures. All I have

I’m mesmerized with some of the shots I took yesterday at the harbor. There were some wispy clouds on the sky that created wonderful colors, plus the tide was low and there wasn’t much wind, so the water was calm and mirror-like (as much as we ever get here, in windy Argentina). Perfect weather conditions for shooting a sunset, even if I was wrapped in a cotton jacket and my snow parka (we don’t have snow here, but I dare say the winter wind is just as bad).

If you pay attention to the pier in these shots, you’ll notice a patch of color on it. That’s the puddle where I shot this pole. Isn’t the world magical?

The yachts on a row are an attempt at my weekly assignment for my Flickr group, themed “Repetition”. Originally, I wanted to shot them with the setting sun as a background, but I must confess I got so wrapped up in shooting the pier that I forgot about the yachts until it was too dark. Luckily, I took this one before moving on to the pier, and it turned out somewhat nice but also overexposed. So, I put to use some of the amazing textures I downloaded yesterday, and I sooo love the result. You can find the textures I used and a lot more at Shadowhouse Creations, a wonderful site where you can download some great textures for absolutely free.

A nice baby seagull posing for the camera. My father said they have a name, but I’m not a bird person; I just liked this little fellow that was floating by without a care in the world.

Reflections on the water and the mud. Last time I tried to capture the sun glittering on the sea, but the shots didn’t come out well. This time I like what I got.

I have some more pictures to edit, but it’s late and I’m tired, so they’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks everyone for reading, liking and commenting my posts!

  1. I love how the water looks in these shots. Stunning…as usual : )

  2. beautiful!! loving the shots of the beach and harbor that you are posting lately. If you don’t mind revealing your location, can I ask which beach this is?

    • Thank you! These were taken in Ingeniero White, and the other beach you can see in “Sunset fire and Photoshop curves” is Villa del Mar. Both located in Buenos Aires.
      Thanks for dropping by!

  3. I absolutely love the shot with the yachts; it’s just so perfect – the yachts all in a row, the sun behind…

  4. I really like the pole in reflection, really cool shot. Beautiful shots

  6. these pictures are beautiful – i especially like the first few harbor shots and the yacht picture. inspiring!

  7. I like “harbor-licious” and especially the reflection in the puddle. You are absolutely right- THE WORLD IS MAGICAL!

  8. Stunningly beautiful shots. The colors and warmth of the light (in spite of the cold wind you mentioned) are gorgeous.

I really like the one after the puddle. It looks like a walkway or pier going into the water. I have the perfect place to hang it. 🙂

    • Thanks, Robin! The colors were really warm, and the light is absolutely autumn-gold.
It used to be a pier for surfers to go into the water with their boards, but apparently there weren’t many surfers and it was left to rot. I was captivated by how it light up in the sunset light. If you mean the hanging it part, I can send you the original. If it was just an expression, thanks anyway, I feel flattered 🙂

  9. Fantastic shots, Argentina is a beautiful country. I’ll add you to my blogroll so my followers can check out your great pics..:-)

    • Thanks! Argentina is really beautiful and has many different sceneries and climates; that must be one the few good things about living here.
I’d like to know how to use my blogroll, but I haven’t had the time to explore how to set it so it displays my favorite blogs.
I’m so flattered by your words; my pictures mean the world to me, and I’m grateful every time someone says something nice about them :).

  10. Your blog is so beautiful! I have tried to capture water sunsets, but have failed countless times 😛 It seems like such a magical place that you live in 😀 I especially love the bird floating on the water without a care. I want to be that bird! hee hee 🙂

    • I’m quite convinced the beauty of sunsets here does half the work. The best thing about life is having the chance to experience it.
Thanks for your kind words, and for dropping by!
